How sweet is this beach house with it's pop of red! It gives this otherwise simple, seaside cottage a totally unexpected twist by turning it into a home full of colour and vibrant energy. It's a little full on for me being a designer and working with colour all day long - I need something something calm and understated when I finish up at night but I would get great joy renting this little cottage for a summer vacation!
The thing about coastal living is that it's easy to relax and unwind. Life travels at a slower pace when you're at the beach - days are long, languid and easy going! There's less distractions allowing you to spend more downtime on the things you enjoy doing. For me it's entertaining, cooking, reading and beach walks. For my husband and kids it's all about the beach and surfing. But our weekends are very chilled and there's always plenty of time to do a bit of everything so everyone's always pretty happy!
Now here is a stunning coastal retreat with a difference - architectural, clean lined and modern - it offers the ultimate sophisticated getaway on the Spanish Island of Ibiza. Not only does it offer coastal views and an infinity edge pool but it also features a sunken bath, multiple outdoor entertaining and lounging spaces and plenty of extra rooms for guests. I can see myself (and my friends) making the most of this fabulous holiday getaway. What a perfect house for a stylish pool party complete with French champagne, cocktails and canapes all served by tanned Spanish waiters dressed in white!!
As I am scouring the shops, runways and magazines for some summer fashion inspiration. I was on the lookout for some summer essentials when I spied this fashion story. I fell in love with the bright psychedelic print kaftan. The whole look is perfect with the flat, gold Roman sandals and the layered gold bangles with flashes of colour. It's 'boho chic' personified! The thick, dark glossy hair, the olive skin and the exotic beauty of the model just makes me want it even more!! The long black number for evening is striking and dramatic and the maxi floral dress makes a fun, flirty statement for more casual nights. The lacey cami and casual shorts are a cute look for relaxed, easy days. Now I just need to find something like it in the boutiques!
I am loving this soft splash of tangerine - even a dash of colour in accessories and artwork can give a place a huge lift. Simple details like flowers, cushion covers, coffee table books and light shades can completely transform a place without going to a huge expense. I love the idea of changing accessories when there's a change of season ... coming into summer this zesty citrus shade works a treat!
I love this coastal palette of deep, inky ocean blues. Blues always look so perfectly at home in a beach house or coastal retreat. They can be dressed up to look sharp, chic and nautical when teamed with lots of white and splashes of red or they can look relaxed and casual when combined with vintage pieces and weathered timbers. Blue is also a great staple for homewares and accessories think scatter cushions, platters, dinnerware, coffee mugs, coloured glassware and nautical prints. Living down the coast, blue is a wardrobe basic - our shelves are bulging with jeans, polos, knits and tees all in shades of blue!
I always loved fantasizing about being shipwrecked 'Robinson Crusoe' style when I was a little girl. I was fascinated by the book and being a bit of designer, even back in those days, I would have the tree hut all mapped out and decorated, and the wardrobe designed - reminiscent of Brooke Shield's in Blue Lagoon! Anyway things have changed much because I am loving this Vogue fashion shoot featuring gorgeous pieces from Valentino, Vera Wang, Zac Posen, Rodarte and Alexander McQueen.

I love an all white look for a beach house and I'm constantly drawn to anything that's white, fresh and simple. Two of my favourite styles are 'shabby chic' and the Scandinavian look. I like everything with a mix of eclectic pieces and a vintage twist. I love white slip covered furniture and white painted floorboards even though I would never be able to keep either of them clean! This week I have been on the hunt for clients for quirky pieces to decorate their beach houses with, so I have been scouring around for old boat oars, antique fishing rods, life buoys and wooden tennis rackets. I have had a lot of fun rummaging around the antique markets and coastal shops and have found some really great treasures which I am sure they will love!
