Beach Wedding

summer wedding

Thinking of getting married sometime soon?

Then I love the idea of a beach wedding - simple and relaxed surrounded by beach, ocean, friends and loved ones. I got married on Cable Beach in Broome but if you feeling a little more adventurous why not consider the Caribbean! J.Crew choose the gorgeous island of St Lucia for their Spring wedding shoot and it's just stunning. Such a dreamy location guarantees a perfect wedding! My pick of these pretty colour palettes is the aqua and mint shades - the perfect compliment to the tropical water.

Coastal Calm

Why This Room Works

This room’s quiet palette allows the little details an opportunity to shine: graceful printed pillows and striped chairs, a reflective mercury lamp, silvery candlesticks and shining glass lanterns. High and low furnishings – a leather bench that doubles as a coffee table and ottoman, and a grand mirror that acts as a second window – keep the space from feeling stagnant. A scattering of faux coral adds natural whimsy.

Beach Ride

These look like perfect weekend activities ...
hope you have a lovely weekend!

I have just booked a horse ride along the beach.
The ride is a couple of hours long,
starting off on a meandering trail through the bush
and finishing off with a canter along the beach

It'll be so much fun - I can't wait!

White & Wood

White and Wood - Get The Look

white & wood

I always favour clean design lines and simple colour palettes especially when it comes to coastal decorating. It seems a pity to distract one from the beauty of the natural surroundings therefore I am loving this new trend that we are seeing on blogs and in mags of the combination of white and wood. It pays homage to the simplicity and purity of Scandinavian design. It's a trend that lends itself beautifully to beach house decorating. These images are the stunning work French photographer Romain Ricard.

I love the natural details in all these inviting white interiors.

Anzac Cookies

What would Anzac Day be without a batch of these family favourites?
I might just give this Donna Hay recipe a go.

anzac biscuits
  •  1 cup (90g) rolled oats
  •  1 cup (150g) plain (all-purpose) flour
  •  ⅓ cup (150g) caster (superfine) sugar
  •  ¾ cup (60g) desiccated coconut
  •  2 tablespoons golden syrup
  •  125g butter
  •  1 teaspoon bicarbonate of (baking) soda
  •  2 tablespoons hot water
Preheat oven to 160°C (320ºF). Mix the oats, flour, sugar and coconut in a bowl. Place the golden syrup and butter in a saucepan over low heat and melt. Mix the bicarbonate of soda with the water and add to the butter mixture. Add to the dry ingredients and mix well. Place tablespoons of the mixture, leaving space between each one for spreading, onto baking trays lined with non-stick baking paper and flatten to about 7cm in diameter. Bake for 8–10 minutes or until a deep brown. Cool on trays for 5 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely. Makes 28.

This is how I am planning to spend my day off -
a little chill out time at the beach, some good food,
watching a DVD in bed and an early night ... bliss!

Hamptons Style - Outdoor Living

Poolside Chic

There's something very classic and chic about the Hamptons style of architecture and interior design that has caught the imagination of designers and home owners around the world. I think it's the fresh combination of lots of white painted timber and natural textures. It's never hard edged or too modern - it promises comfort and relaxation.

I am loving these alfresco spaces that blur the lines between
indoors and outdoors.
