Beach House Fabrics

Ticking is a cotton or linen fabric, tightly woven for durability, and was originally used to cover mattresses and bed pillows. It usually has a striped pattern in muted colors such as blue, black, taupe and occasionally red against a plain, neutral background. It is a good weight for soft furnishings, cushions, table linen, blinds ~ you name it. It's a great fabric for using in a beach house because it's robust and hard wearing. It has a relaxed, casual feel to it that suits a fuss-free beach house. Blue and white ticking is the perfect compliment to rustic furniture, sisal and sea grass and lends itself beautifully to classic coastal decor.

Oooh I like that slipcover on the sofa. The wash of blue at the bottom is so lovely.
