Beach houses are getting bigger, grander and more sophisticated than ever before. They have all the latest mod cons, numerous ensuites, WIR's, movie rooms, state-of-the-art kitchens and leading edge architecture. Having said all that, there is a small group of people choosing to live small, cutting back on the clutter, limiting their material possessions and in doing so are freeing up their time and their financial resources to live the lives they’ve always dreamed of living. They’re travelling, pursuing creative passions, working less and playing more. Living large while living small.

By cutting back on space and excess, people are crafting gorgeous homes that utilise every square inch. With less space to furnish and decorate, they can afford materials and furnishings that they love. With less house to pay for, maintain, and heat, their housing budgets are just a fraction of what has come to be seen as the norm. This amazing home designed by Jessica Helgerson Interior Design for her family measures in at 540 square feet and features everything a growing family needs despite it’s small size. It sits on five acres and it has everything from a beautiful dining room to a library to the coolest kids’ rooms. It was renovated and outfitted almost exclusively with reclaimed materials. Just goes to prove you don't have to be big to be stylish!
