A Minimimalist Renovation to a Sydney Weatherboard

This beautiful beachfront home in Cronulla (a beachside suburb in southern Sydney) has been designed by Amber Road which is a Sydney based landscape design and interior architecture studio owned by sisters Yasmine Ghoniem (interiors) and Katy Svalbe (landscaping). The brief was to introduce sculptural and artistic beauty to an existing three bedroom waterfront property for a family of four. Although set in an incredible seaside location in Cronulla, the timber weatherboard cottage was in dire need of some internal modifications. Over the course of eight months, the brief expanded from just sourcing furniture to building works, customizing joinery, selecting artwork as well as hand selecting the perfect pieces to enhance the property’s location. Inspiration was sourced from Japanese design principles and their minimalist clients plea to keep things as unpretentious and simple as possible. I love the dramatic colour palette of white, low key neutrals and wood against the striking black feature walls.
