This romantic little weekender was formerly an orchard keeper's cottage.
Part of a farm at Red Hill on the Mornington Peninsula (Victoria) this sweet little cottage sits alongside two others surrounded by vineyards and green hills. Bought by a Melbourne couple as a weekend escape, this truly is an idyllic family getaway… complete with rambling hills, distant vineyards, horseriding, and a couple of donkeys! It all sounds just perfect!
The owner is an avid gardener, so she was drawn to the generous grounds, 50 year old fruit orchard and the beautiful old Sequoia tree that sits majestically in the garden. When Lucy and Tony first purchased the property there was a lot of work to be done! They spent weekends renovating, restoring, repairing and painting. Lucy’s passion project was the Orchard Keeper’s Cottage – a tiny, self contained weatherboard cottage (photographed above) expertly renovated in Lucy’s classic, romantic style. It is furnished with vintage treasures, family heirlooms and handcrafted pieces from the local Red Hill market. I love the pretty mix of pastels used throughout.
A truly inspiring place to stay, it can now also be rented for your own enjoyment here.
